The Chuuk State Senate considers two primary forms of legislation: bills and resolutions.
A bill is a proposal for a new law or an amendment to existing law. If passed by both chambers of the Legislature and signed by the Governor, a bill becomes binding law in Chuuk State.
A resolution is a formal expression of the Senate’s position, intent, or decision on a specific matter. Resolutions may be used to recognise individuals or events, direct government action, or address internal Senate business. They do not typically carry the force of law.
